Beryl Payne wrote a diary during her short stay at the Holy Cross Convent, in Haywards Heath. During this time Beryl was recovering from an acute state of anxiety. The diary covers descriptions of her room and a blow by blow account of her activities during her four day stay. It includes who she met, what she ate and a little detail about the history of the Order. No information is included in her diary about the issues which brought on the anxiety.
