Letter from Arthur Jolly to Don Wyllie In Toronto, Canada
From: Letter in the AtticLetter was sent from 11 Wilbury Gardens, Hove to 283 Armadale Avenue, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. AJ writes that he was interested to hear about DW’s forestry course. AJ passed DW’s ‘old billet’ in Shermanbury, Henfield, West Sussex, which was back in private occupation. Most of the letter is concerned with news of AJ’s children; June, Jill, Arthur Richard and Mary Elizabeth. June Jolly, was working for Brighton Social Services and hoping to go onto study, possibly at Bedford College in London (in fact she went to Southampton University), however, AJ notes that it may be difficult for her to get in as many places are given to ex-servicemen or those who have been on National Service. Jill Jolly is a great Hollywood film fan and Arthur Richard Jolly is a pupil at Brighton College, Junior House and is very intersted in experimenting with electricity. ‘ Joyce’ and ‘Ann’ have been staying with the Jolly family as they have both recently had operations. AJ mentions the animals they keep, mostly poultry and rabbits. AJ writes that the office is very busy as it was only 3 or 4 months ago got that the first serviceman returned to work, three have now returned.
