Am trying to find info on 1840 house in montpelier road to restore it back to its original structure. the most pressing conundrum is the hearth in the back room of the basement where a huge head tall hearth has been uncovered with unusual facets and gaps within.would this have been a range or small hearth and for what purpose.servants or servants to heat water for the hierarchy of the house??any info really much appreciated.any websited or specific books…?frankedarling@yahoo.com .
