My Grandmother’s step-father, Isaac Langridge, originally from the Fletching area of Sussex, came to settle in Brighton where he had (3?) pubs. In 1894 he married in Fletching where he was still living. On the 1901 census he was listed as widowed living in Cambridge Street in Brighton as a Pavement Layer. In November of that year he took over the “Prince Alfred” in New Dorset Street, Brighton (and in 1908 moved again to another pub). However, my late Grandmother once told me, he had a pub – (The Rising Sun?) – in Edward Street at “around the turn of the century”.
I would like to establish, if possible, what years he was there and will be grateful for any help.
