Does Prestonville Terrace still exist? (Birthplace of my g'father Henry Bolding).

by Neville Bolding 9 April

Hi.
I’m a 4th generation Brightonian (still live nearby) and have my grandfather’s (Henry Bolding) 20 yrs royal naval record (position, ships served on etc) from 1870 at age 14 written on parchment.

When he retired from the navy in 1890 he became Brighton Beach Inspector and Superintendent in charge of the shops in the arches under the prom, the fish market, fishermen (boats, safety, size of catch, pleasure trips etc) until around 1920.

His address upon entering the navy is shown as 7 Prestonville Terrace but in spite of searching the web I cannot see that Prestonville Terrace still exists. I have a suspicion that it may have been demolished in the late 1800’s for an extension to the railway station. Can anyone throw a light on this please?

Neville Bolding.
