Hello, I am an Indian born writer presently living in the US, and am trying to find more information on Emile Moreau – who had a long connection with India, not just as the founder of A H Wheeler and Co (the chain of railway bookstores and publishers), but during WW I he was very instrumental, I understand, in how the British government’s propaganda department functioned in South Asia (north, west India and present day Pakistan).
I am very intrigued about Moreau’s life in England where he was largely based from the early 1900s. From your website, I know about his Fairlie Place property but the mention of his being a “pre WW I racing driver” is what I am hoping to find out more about.
Its – his motor racing skills – mentioned here by a respondent relating to a photo of Fairlie Cottage posted on your site. http://www.mybrightonandhove.org.uk/page_id__9492_path__0p116p181p438p.aspx
However, my search, and even a google search has yielded nothing and I would be more grateful for any information in this regard.
