Fishing shops by Lottie 2 August 2009I think there was one in Black Lion Street as well.4 replies Re: Fishing shops by Dave Blackford 2 August 2009As a lad in the 1940s I got all my fishing tackle from a shop called Sid & Dons – I think it was near the Evening Argus works. Anyone else remember it? Re: Fishing shops by Roy Grant 2 August 2009Yes Sid & Don’s was opposite the Argus printing workshops. Forgot that one. They also used to re-ring and varnish old rods. I had mine done there because some idiot from Brighton Cruising Club cut through the pier rather than going round it and their outboard motor snagged my line. It pulled the rod and reel into the water, snapping off each ring as it went. When the little springy bell clipped to the top of the rod initially rang I thought I could be into something big, but it cost me dearly for the rod was gone before I could get to it. Re: Fishing shops by Dennis Fielder 2 August 2009I liked the Fishing Tackle shop at the top of Duke street best, cant remember what is was called though Re: Fishing shops by Roy Grant 2 August 2009We need Andy on this one. Think it was part of or next to Wisdens. Add your replyHiddenAdd your title Add your wordsWould you like to add some images (optional)?
