Goldstone Bottom by Geoff Stoner 22 January 2013Does anybody know the exact location? Was it north or south of the Old Shoreham Road?2 replies Re: Goldstone Bottom by Roy Grant 22 January 2013North for certain, but in my mind its exact position is a bit woolly. Going by the description given when the firing squad executed the mutineers Cook and Parish in 1795, it was a natural amphitheatre where the cannon were trained on several thousand soldiers assembled from every regiment to witness the event. i believe that locates Goldstone bottom along the valley where Goldstone Crescent now runs and intersects the A2038. The natural amphitheatre could therefore be the farm land to the north and the hillsides to the east and west now lost to the urban development of Hove.
