Listed in the street directories as a café, but I only recall it as what now would be termed a take-away. Re: Hagons chippie and the late 60,s by Joe Stoner 6 June 2022 11:05 AMThey also had a chip shop which was in an arch on one of the ramps to the beach at the bottom of Western Road so that IF the grockles had missed them “up top” they got them before they got their shirts of a turned a brighter shade of pink!I saw the “dark side” one early morning when one of their employees lifted the block of fat out of a chip fryer and plled the black chips that stuck out of the bottom and sides, NOT very appetizing!
