In reference to Jubilee Street - running North/South between North Road and Church Street, Brighton.

Having lived in 22 North Place from around 1944 & into the late 1950’s, I was aware of this area generally.

At the end closest to Church St and vaguely behind ‘The Wagon & Horses’ pub was a milk bottling plant. I recall churns of milk being delivered and bottled milk coming out for domestic delivery – horse & cart originally, I recall –  then the electric ‘floats’.  For some reason or another, I seem to think that in the decades earlier, the said premises were in fact a slaughter yard – how far back I don’t know – and that in pre-transport days the animals had to be ‘herded’ there; I wonder where from?

Can anybody throw some light on this?

Living in Western Australia these past 50years & long retired, I have time now to ponder on life’s little mysteries. Keep up the good work, I love trawling through all the different pages.
