James Sparrow Greene was a schoolmaster. In 1841 he had a school in Poisey Green with nearly 40 pupils. However, in 1851 he was at 9 Clifton Place, Brighton, with just two pupils. His wife, Mary died in 1856 (death reg. Brighthelmston), and James died 1865.
I am curious about his time at Clifton Place; did he always just have a couple of pupils? When did he arrive there and how long did his school survive? A previous post (in 2009) suggests that Clifton Place was only developed in the 1850s.
