Michael Wilcock and his Father

by John Woodget 9 September 2011

Tim Sargeant talks of Michael Wilcock at the Swandean Garage near Worthing who in 1953 ran his Swandean Spitfire Special at Brighton Speed Trials. He retired and went to Jersey where he ran the Jersey Motor Museum for some years. Michael’s father was Frederick Wilcock who was a great Bentley enthusiast. He owned the 1937 Derby Bentley of which I am now the proud owner. The car was delivered to Frederick at their home in Sussex in 1942. There is an interesting history to this car and I am trying to find out anything I can of where the car came from and how the original handbook remained in Jersey until 1987 while the car made its way to San Diego California. Is Michael Wilcock still alive? Did anybody in Brighton know of the car before it was sold after Frederick died in 1944?
