In the early 30’s as a very small boy I lived in Albert Road. There was a rag and bone man who came round at regular intervals, somewhat scruffily dressed and carrying a sack over his shoulder. He was always on foot and used to call out at intervals what sounded like
“HORS DAN BIB”. Try as I might over the years, I have failed to translate just what he was calling. Has anyone any ideas on this.
