I remember the late, lamented humourist Keith Waterhouse used to occasionally mention in articles that Brighton had once banned McGill postcards (the saucy, humorous ones) from sale in the town. Does anyone know the truth behind this tale or when it happened? As my grandfather was a prominent councillor and alderman from the mid 30’s to the mid 50’s I am curious whether he might have been involved in the episode.
