I seem to remember a message which mentioned the newer workhouse in Shoreham, Steyning Union, which later became Southlands Hospital. The older workhouse became St Wilfred’s Children’s home and I thought that had been demolished, does anyone know if that is the case?
I would also like to know if there are any records or other information about either workhouse, apart from those held at East Sussex Record Office.
I have an acestor who was in both workhouses and I am also doing general research for a project.
Any suggestions, advice etc., will be very gratefully received.
