Annual Reunion Lunch

The 151st annual reunion was held in the College hall on Saturday, 15th July 2017, when 68 members and 12 guests enjoyed a splendid buffet lunch, provided by the college caterers. Our guest speaker was Andy Sloggett, who attended the grammar school from 1961 to 1968. Andy, who trained as a pharmacist, spoke of his interesting career in medicine and especially his time with Save the Children as a member of the management team for the ailing Mulago Hospital in Uganda. His talk included some fascinating anecdotes, some of which we were thankful that we heard after we had eaten!

Details of the 152nd annual reunion, to be held on a Saturday in early July 2018, will appear here when they become available

I progressed from Taunton House Prep. school to to the school in September 1944. I received an email from Eric Gill recently reminding me Richard Hicks moved at approximately the same time. Also there was Michael Till, Roy Sinclair Ronnie Fox and others whose names I forget. The only 2 ex. pupils, other than myself who reside in Southern Ireland are Don Tidey (who I last met at the 150th reunion luncheon) and Peter Solly, who lives about 30 miles from me, and was speaking to only last week. Peter and I spent years trying to catch record sea fish off the Co. Waterford beaches. Paul Tomsett Paul Tomsett

My uncle, John Brian Cother was in the Gilbert and Sullivan operas at the Brighton Hove and Sussex Grammar School in 1931. He played the lead role. I was lucky enough to walk through the main hall in 2014 and viewed the memorial windows. My uncle's name is included in the honour roll, he was killed in WWII. I am writing his biography, and wonder if ANYONE out there knows what happened to the sports cups from the old school? There is one my grandparents presented for the best shooter, my uncle was a top shot in the OTC. Should there be anyone out there still alive who recalls my uncle, I would love to hear from you.

Bruce Rawlings, I would love to know when the next Past and Present luncheon is going to be held. I will be in the UK June 22nd to Sept 21st 2015.  I met up with Mark Gillingham last year, and gained so much insight as to my uncle's life at the school.  I have been in contact with the son of Sir Read. Thank you.

I was at the school in the early fifties. On Friday afternoons there were three alternatives - the CCF, the Scouts or an odd job working party organised by an elderly master, Sebastian Toll who had the irreverent nickname of Tramp. At Christmas the CCF had a party for its members where the officers provided entertainment, usually led by the CO Mr Randall singing a marching song"Green Grow the Rushes Oh"
