From: Letter in the AtticIn her diary entries for May 25 and 26 MMB writes in 1940 that Brighton’s piers were closed and the front guarded. May 26th 1940 was National Day of Prayer and the King and Queen and Queen Wilhelmina (of the Netherlands) went to Westminster Abbey. In 1943 a raid on Brighton damaged the viaduct near Brighton Station, MMB could hear the bombs.
