Letter from John Leech to Amelia Rose Leech written from France.
From: Letter in the AtticJL writes of his concern for ARL (she has just lost the baby she was carrying). After they crossed the frontier into Belgium he sent ARL a ribbon in the Belgium colours. JL reminises about Rottingdean and a visit to Oxford Cathedral. JL describes how the women of a town they had just relieved gave them coffee and bread they could ill afford and how the soldiers were brought close to tears as the town’s children clung to them almost preventing them from marching. The final page or pages of this letter are lost.
