A village feel
When I walk between the centre of Brighton and home, I usually alternate between the sea front and St Georges Road. I just love the feel of this particular stretch of road. Although only recently labelled KempTown ‘village’, to my mind it does have a real village feel.
Great range of shops
Old signs on the walls show that it has long been a shopping area. There is a great range of shops – charity shops, a hardware store, many sources of food and drink to eat in or take away, shops selling clothes, antiques, etc sources of inspirations for presents; so much in such a small area.
Thriving independent bookshop
Here is the best greengrocers shop I know of around and a deli. It is amazing to find an independent bookshop which continues to survive against all the competition from large, national chains. It has a lovely selection of books and it great to browse in.
Respite from big chain shops
There is always something different to see and there nearly always seem to be plenty of people around. It is shame that more local shopping centres don’t remain, with the range of shops that exists here – a welcome respite from the blandness of big-chain supermarkets.
