Hangleton & Knoll 50+ Spring Hop

The Hangleton & Knoll 50+ Spring Hop was held at St Richard’s Church and Community Centre on the afternoon of Friday 17th May.  Over 100 people attended, including the Mayor of Brighton & Hove Dee Simson. The Cascadez Line Dancers gave a brief display and then invited us to join them for a simple dance, which we did with enthusiasm. Delicious sandwiches and scones were served and were enjoyed by everyone

Enthusiastic Bollywood dancing

Lucy Alphonso who teaches Bollywood dancing gave a short display. To the 50+ Steering Group’s delight, the floor was suddenly full of people and those seated joined in too with the wonderful hand and arm movements. More line dancing was followed by the presentation of the 50+ Volunteer of the Year award by Mayor Dee Simson, to Wendy Blanchard for all her dedication and hard work over the year supporting community meetings and events.

Finally, a half hour of singing together led by Udita Everett of Singing for Better Health finished the event on a high. The event was a tremendous success. Everyone left feeling well fed and watered, exercised and smiling, having been part of this wonderful community event.

  • Great photos. It’s wonderful to see so many 50+ enjoying tea and having a fun afternoon of dancing and singing.
