The Mayor of Brighton and Hove, Councillor Pete West, hosted a reception on 6th December at the Mayor’s Parlour at Brighton Town Hall, where Brighton philanthropist Mr Arthur Green presented the latest awards to local charities and community groups from the Arthur and Doreen Green Fund at Sussex Community Foundation.

Mr Green has lived in Hove for a number of years and is now well into his retirement. In 2008, Arthur’s wife, Doreen, died from cancer. With the legacy he had inherited from his wife, he set up the Arthur and Doreen Green Fund.
“As the sole surviving member of my family, the family line would have ended eventually but, with the help of Sussex Community Foundation, that will now not happen,” said Mr Green. “Not only will the fund be a permanent memorial to us both but, more importantly, the fund will provide a contribution to the financial needs of some of the many worthy and deserving causes that exist throughout East and West Sussex.”
