Annual Sponsored Walk for the Animals

Annual fundraising walk

This week the Mayor of Brighton and Hove, Councillor Anne Meadows and her consort Tony Meadows, joined the members of Sussex Pet Rescue and Cat Welfare Sussex. for their annual fundraising walk along the seafront. Sussex Pet Rescue is a small registered charity working in Sussex. Their aim is to relieve the suffering of sick and abandoned animals and to re-home companion animals. Cat Welfare Sussex is dedicated to the welfare of stray and unwanted cats both domestic and feral, within the Southern area.

The work of the charity

Sussex Pet Rescue also endeavours to help small older ponies through an association with ‘Happy Retirements’ and also help with ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs and other companion small animals via advice and a neutering scheme. They always have a list of dogs waiting for new homes. The majority are in ‘foster homes’ and some may be waiting in their existing homes until foster spaces become available. Through assessing the dogs and meeting prospective new owners, they try to ‘make a match’ that will last the dog’s lifetime.
