My family the Foulsers

My great Grandfather, Edward Foulser opened his grocer’s business at 71 Portland Road in Hove in 1894 after moving from Southsea and this was subsequently taken over by my grandfather, his son, Robert just before World War 2 started. He sold the business in 1961 to move for a short time to Hurstpierpoint. My Grandfather and his wife, Ruby were both Presidents of the Brighton, Hove & District Grocer’s Association.

  • My grandparents and aunt lived across the road from this shop, they were Foulsers too but not related. I do remember the shop and Harveys department store, now the co-op.
